GCap withdraw sale of nine stations |
| Posted by Craig - 03-24-06 13:02 - 0 comments |
|
| QUOTE (http://www.radiotoday.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=629) | GCap Media have taken the nine radio stations it announced were for sale last November, off the market. The main reason being that year revenues were down 13 percent.
In a statement released this morning, GCap says: "Several offers have been received for this portfolio of assets. The Board does not believe that it would be in the best interests of GCap's shareholders to sell these businesses at the level of the offers received having taken account of the likely post tax proceeds and the dilution to earnings per share from disposal. Accordingly, the sale process has been terminated and the stations will be retained as integral parts of the Group.
The stations concerned remain attractive assets which will be managed for growth under the existing structure." The nine stations, which were orignally expected to raise 60million pounds for GCap, are the former Marcher Group stations in the Northwest and North Wales: MFM, Buzz 97.1, Coast FM and Champion FM plus Southwest stations Gemini FM, Plymouth Sound, Orchard FM, Lantern FM and South Hams Radio. |

107.6 Touch FM launches in Banbury |
| Posted by Admin - 02-25-06 21:24 - 0 comments |
|
Banbury's newest radio station 107.6 Touch FM launched today at 10AM from the Castle Quays Shopping Centre.
The station went live across much of Oxfordshire and beyond when popstars The ugababes "Pushed the Button" with a special message, as their chart-topping single was played out as the first song. Radio Developments Weekday breakfast host Dale Collins kicked off the first show in style, as they handed out £1000 to a lucky listener. Earlier in the week, the station's promotional crew "The Touch Team" headed into town to hand out special crosses. Recipients of these crosses were instructed to attend the launch show and place their cross on a large grid. During the show, Dale randomly drew out a set of coordinates and the owner of the matching cross was deemed the winner.
Amongst the presenters to feature on the station are Kate Clark (Star Cheltenham), George Thomas (The Bear), Chris Nash (Rugby FM), Nathan Pestridge (Rugby FM) and Gary James. The new A List Chart, due to launch next week, will also be making up their weekend schedule. |
